Beware of Scams

The Student Disability Center has recieved numerous reports of a scam email/s being sent to students stating that our office is hiring student employees and assistants for our Director Justin Dove. If you have been affected by this SCAM, please report any emails that you have received and do not engage. If you have already contacted the scammer or sent them money, please connect in with the CSU Police Department to see what options are available and report any future emails you receive.

The Student Disability Center hires student employees through Handshake only. We do not post job opportunities on any other websites, and we only read applications that are submitted through Handshake. We also will not contact you asking for your bank routing information or ask you to deposit money. All hiring paperwork is managed through CSU HR and comes through secure email connections.

The SDC has also received reports that students are receiving personal checks from our Director Justin Dove. Please be aware that we do not send personal checks to students. Any checks for employment will come from CSU HR or be directly deposited into your account only after you have started working with our office and been on shift for at least two weeks.

If you do receive a check from a “Justin Dove” please do not cash it.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. If you do receive something and are not sure if it is a scam, please call us first to confirm if we are hiring or not prior to engaging with the individual. If you are hoping to work for the SDC please apply on Handshake!
